Testimonials

Dear Rescue Safety Products:

I am writing to thank you for the excellent job your staff did with installing the ambulance simulator recently at HACC.

We were very pleased for the opportunity to have had the simulator built into our new nursing and allied health building. As we have strived for realism with moulage and programmed patients, I anticipate the simulator will be an excellent adjunct to teaching in that it will allow us to replicate an overall feeling of reality. Prior to their ALS field experience on actual ambulances, simulations will provide an environment for students to Develop conceptually and allow them to function in ‘the environment.’

Possibly most important, simulations will help make learning more fun!

Simulations will certainly become a greater part of our teaching
methodology in the future.

Again thanks for your excellent product. I’ll keep you updated on its use.

Sincerely,

Craig Davis, Med, BS, EMT-P

SAN FRANCISCO FIRE DEPARTMENT

EMS Division

Dear Commissioner,
Throughout the professional industry, skill sets have been taught and practiced in the same environment in
which they will be utilized.

Aircraft mechanics work on actual jet engines, chemists run actual experiments, surgeons practice techniques
on cadavers, but in the familiar surroundings of an actual operating theatre. Indeed, here at home, we have a fire
simulator, where firefighters can ‘SCOTT up’ and enter a building that is actually on fire.

Emergency Medical Services has not had the same educational benefit of training in a familiar work
environment. Training, skills labs, assessment centers, and equipment application are all conducted in a controlled
classroom setting, whereas the actual skill is performed, for the most part, in the dimly lit confines of a moving
ambulance.

AmbulanceSimulator.Com introduced a product in September 2005 that will bridge the gap between
classroom and field practice for paramedics and emergency medical technicians. It is this product we would like to accept with our grant funding.

The Ambulance Simulator is a self-contained training environment that mimics the patient care compartment
of a ‘box-style’ ambulance, which is the style of vehicle that San Francisco uses. The Simulator has equipment cabinets, IV hooks, and suction capability and is raised off the floor to allow for proper gurney removal and insertion.

The Simulator is designed to be placed in classroom surroundings. A side-wall cutaway allows students to
observe the actions of fellow trainees inside the simulator module.

As an enhancement to this life-size diorama, a computer-controlled SimMan will be purchased with the
ambulance simulator. The SimMan is multiple generations past the familiar ‘Resusci-Annies’ and can produce blood pressures, pulses and breathing patterns. Paramedics can initiate IV therapy, CPR, Advanced Airway and needle decompression treatment, as well as defibrillate cardiovert and pace the mannequin’s heart.

We are asking for this equipment to be approved through a grant funding process .

Please contact me with any questions you may have.

Mike and Jim,
Just a quick note to tell you how well the Ambulance Simulator has been received here at
Iowa Valley. Everyone from the Chancellor on down have been very impressed and my
instructors can’t wait to get their hands on it. In fact, our State Senator, Tom Harkin,
stopped by this morning and was quite impressed, stating that he had never seen anything
like it before, and could readily appreciate what a valuable training tool the Simulator
will be.

I want to tell you both that I appreciate both your work and the quality of the Simulator.

Many thanks,

Roger Kendall
